The department is committed to the prenatal examination, consultation, and diagnosis of genetic diseases. We have found more than 60 new mutational sites, thereby providing complete local mutation data on Taiwan genetic diseases and presenting the best evidence for clinical diagnosis, as well as published more than 100 papers on prestigious journals at home and abroad.   

 

As the laboratory has invested considerable amounts of research resources in the diagnosis, screening, and treatment of rare diseases, it received the gold award for the national biotechnology and medical care quality from the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry at the end of 2002. In May 2004, Dr. Fu-jen Tsai was recognized by domestic scholars and won the outstanding contribution award from the DOH at the “Third Rare Disease Drug Supply, Manufacturing, and Research and Development Rewards Event.”
